Pearl drop earrings project:
These pearl drop earrings are beautiful, elegant earrings, yet easy to make. You can use any beads instead of pearls if you’re not a pearl enthusiast, to create a different look. You can make the earrings without using the bead caps. If you prefer the bead caps, make sure they fit around the pearls properly.
What you need:
- 2 pearls, or any other beads
- 2 fish hook earring wires
- 2 silver spacer beads (optional)
- 2 headpins
- 2 bead caps that fit the beads (optional
- 2 clear crystal beads (I’ve used Swarovski 4mm bicone beads)
- round nose pliers
- wire or side cutters
- safety glasses (optional)
Make both earrings step-by-step together to ensure they are the same length.
Step 1:
Straighten the headpins more or less using your hands. First insert the pearl, followed by the bead cap, then the crystal bead and lastly the silver spacer bead.

Step 2:
Bend the tip of the headpin 80 to 90 degrees above the bead.

Step 3:
Grip the bent wire with your round nose pliers as close to the bead as possible.

Step 4:
Use your free hand to bend the tip of the wire clockwise around the nose of the pliers to form a loop. You might have to reposition your pliers once or twice. Make sure both earrings are the same length.

Step 5:
Use your side cutters to cut off the excess wire that does not form part of the loop. Always protect your eyes by using safety glasses when cutting wire.

Step 6:
Slip the fish hook wire onto the loop of the headpin, and close the loop completely using your round nose pliers.
