How to make drop earrings:
This basic drop earrings project is exactly what is says: the most basic way to make drop earrings. You can make various designs with this method just by using different amounts, sizes and colors of beads. Just add some pearls, crystals, bead caps and silver spacer beads to make sophisticated earrings! These earrings are easy and fun to make, so let's start.
What you need:
- I’ve used 2 small and 2 medium green Swarovski crystal beads, 2 Bali spacer beads and 2 silver spacer beads (2mm). You can use any other beads of your choice.
- 2 headpins
- 2 fish hook earring wires
- round nose pliers
- wire or side cutters
- chain or flat nose pliers
Make both earrings step-by-step together to ensure that they are exactly the same.
Straighten the headpins more or less using your hands. Insert the beads in the following order onto both headpins: large crystal bead, bali bead, medium crystal bead, silver spacer bead.
Bend the tip of the headpin 80 to 90 degrees directly above the bead using your hands.
Grip the bent wire with your round nose pliers as close to the bead as possible.
Use your free hand to bend the tip of the wire clockwise around the nose of the pliers to form a loop. You might have to reposition your pliers once or twice. Make sure both earrings are the same length.
Use your side or wire cutters to cut the excess wire that does not form part of the loop. Always protect your eyes by using safety glasses when cutting wire.
Open the loop just big enough to slip the earring wires onto the loop. Close the loop completely using your round nose pliers.
