How to make crystal drop earrings:
These crystal drop earrings can be made from any small crystal beads. I’ve used 4mm bicone Swarovski crystals. You can even use small glass beads, pearls or gemstones. The most important technique for making these earrings is the single wire loop/eye pin technique. Once you’ve mastered this technique, you’ll be able to make various types of earrings.
What you need:
- 6 crystal beads (I’ve used Swarovski 4mm and 5mm bicone beads)
- 2 headpins
- 20g or 22g wire
- 2 fish hook earring wires
- round nose pliers
- wire or side cutters
Make both earrings step-by-step together to ensure that they are the same length.
Step 1:
Straighten the headpins more or less using your hands. Insert the 5mm crystal bead onto the headpin. Cut off two pieces of wire, at least 9cm each. The other 2 pieces of wire are for the 4mm crystal beads.

Step 2:
Take the 9-10cm of wire and form an
eye pin.
(Click on the link to view the technique). Once you’ve got an eye pin, insert the 4mm crystal bead onto the eye pin. Make another loop at the other end of the eye pin to form a
double loop
that serves as a link. (Click on the link to view the technique) Do this with both pieces of wire.
Step 3:
Next, take the headpin and make an
eye pin
above the 5mm crystal bead. Now you will have 3 pieces which you need to put together.

Step 4:
Open the loop of the headpin and insert one of the links onto the loop. Close the loop completely.

Step 5:
Open the loop of the link and insert the other link onto the loop. Close the loop completely.

Step 6:
Finally, open the loop of the last link to insert the fish hook earring wire. Close the link and make sure there is not an open space for the fish hook wire to slip through.
