How to make a beaded phone charm for your cell/mobile phone:
A beaded phone charm can be made by using any kind of beads to personalize your cell phone. You will need a cell phone strap which is available from most hobby and bead stores, ebay, and some cell/mobile phone stores.
What you need:
- cell phone strap
- 8 crystal beads (4mm)
- large focal bead (I’ve used a lampwork bead)
- 3 metal spacer beads
- 22g wire (2-3 inch)
- round nose pliers
- chain or flat nose pliers
- wire or side cutters
- safety glasses(optional)
Cut off 2 to 3 inches of 22g wire. Make a wrapped loop as described on the page
When your wrapped loop is ready, slide one crystal bead followed by the large focal bead, and another crystal bead onto the wire.
Grip the wire approximately 4mm above the large bead with your round nose pliers.
Use your free hand to bend the wire clockwise around the tip of your pliers.
Release your round nose pliers when you have a complete loop. Slide the cell phone strap onto the loop.
Grip the loop with your chain or flat nose pliers and use your free hand to wrap the wire around the neck of the loop until it reaches the bead.
Cut off the excess wire with your wire cutters, and compress the sharp end with your chain nose pliers.
Take three headpins and slide the beads in the following order onto all of them: crystal bead, metal spacer bead, crystal bead.
Use your round nose pliers to make a loop for each headpin as described on the page
Cut off the extra wire that does not form part of the loop, using your wire cutters.
Open the loop of each headpin slightly, using your round nose pliers. Try not to open it too wide, otherwise the round shape of the loop might be distorted.
Attach all three headpins to the bottom wrapped loop of the large focal bead. Make sure you close the loops completely.
Well done, now you can attach your beaded charm to your cell phone.
